Rimmel Apocalips

Hello my lovelies! As you probably know, the Rimmel apocalips lip lacquers have been raved about time and time again. I decided it was time I bit the bullet, jumped on the band wagon and tried them out!

Luna is the pale peachy shade pictured in the photograph. The colour is extremely orange toned, which could suit your skin down to the ground! Sadly, it doesn't suit my skin very well, as I am fairly tanned, and I end up looking like I have a bad case of concealer lip! I would definitely say that this colour would look better on fairer skin. When applied only once 'Luna' appears very streaky and patchy, which isnt what you want. Personally, I let each coat dry and then build it up layer at a time to get the opaque lip I'm looking for. However, when the product is built up on your lips the quality really shines through. They're not sticky, and don't wear off for hours!

The other apocalips is 'Apocaliptic'. I picked this up from Pound world! So it was a right old bargain! But this one is actually my favourite of the two! First application allows for an opaque coat first time round, and I end up with the glossiest plumpest looking lips. Unlike a lot of bright lip products, this one doesn't run into the creases around my lips, it says put. I'm pretty sure this shade has blue undertones too, because it makes my teeth much whiter than they naturally are, which is obviously a bonus! Overall, I think its one of my top five lip colours!

I love the packaging of the apocalips. Especially the lids. The geometric pattern, really gives the futuristic feel that I think Rimmel are aiming for. Another thing I really like, is that the bottle is transparent in places, which means you can see the true colour of the product with little difficulty! This makes it easier to find the right shade to put on in those dark winter mornings! The contrast between the black, and the colour of the product really makes the apocalips pop!

Pricing is fairly decent too. At £6.49, i can definitely see myself purchasing some more in the future as they're just that great.

Leave me some colour recommendations in the comments!

Rimmel Vinyl Lipgloss: 'Snog'

Hello my lovelies, today I'm going to be talking about a products that sadly isn’t that great. I was really looking forward to trying out the Vinyl Gloss Lip gloss by Rimmel, but honestly, in my opinion it's nothing special!

The consistency of the lip gloss however, is really nice, and shines really well. However, the colour 'Snog' is really disappointing. When i actually applied this to my lips, there was no difference in the colour of my lips, all it really did was add a small amount of sheen. Obviously, other colours in the range might be different, and 'Snog' might suit your lips better than it does mine (10/10 for perfect match to my lips though!) and therefore be better overall in your opinion.

The Packaging didn't really impress me either, there's nothing wrong with it, but for the price, i would expect the packaging to look slightly more impressive if i'm honest. It's just quite plain and boring in my opinion.

Finally, i want to discuss the price of the product. For the quality, i think its actually overpriced at £4.99.  I think for the money, there's better products out there. Take, the Rimmel lasting kisses lip glosses, for example, they're excellent. I just think that the vinyl  glosses aren't as good as Rimmel's usual high standard.

Price: 4/10      Packaging:   5/10     Product: 4/10

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

If any of you made the transfer over from my old blog, you'll know I've been wanting to try out the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation! And I've finally got my hands on it! And by heck its a good un'!

So as you can see, the packaging is up to scratch! I love the bright orange lid, as its really summer-y and is embossed with the signature Rimmel crown! I love the fact that the bottle is glass, because I'm less likely to split the packaging! The pump is brilliant too!

The actual foundation is genuinely great too! When i first bought it and swatched it on my hand, i was shocked with horror from glitter particles! But fear not, when applied to the face, the glitter seems to disappear, and your face looks really fresh and glowy!

I LOVE this foundation, and even uses it under the eyes on 'nearly no makeup days' as the anti-fatigue effect is fantastic, and really makes me look more awake! It would definitely work as an anti-fatigue affect concealer! It even smells nice! How often does that happen!?

However, if your already quite oily or glowy, then this may not be the one for you. I'd recommend something a little more matte, like the Match Perfection, as i find it quite useful when my skin is going through an oily stage!!!

Hope you enjoyed!! Leanne :)xx

I Heart Drugstore Makeup Tag

Before anyone starts, I know 'tag' videos are usually only done on YouTube... But I thought i'd bend the rules! Let's go!!!! :)

1. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand?
I really like Rimmel and  Maybelline, I can't really choose between! I have a variety of both brands and there's hardly any I dislike! I also really like MUA and Sleek!

2. What are your favourite face, cheek and lip products?
I like the MUA cream blushers, natural collection pressed powder and the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation.  I LOVE the Kate Moss lipsticks from Rimmel and the collection lipsticks.

3. Least favourite product?
Personally, I don't like the MUA pressed powder, I have really oily skin so the product isn't for my skin type. That's not to say, I won't work for you, everybody's skin types are different!!

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
I think that the MUA pro palette's are amazingly pigmented for the price (£4). The Sleek palettes are really good too!

5. What is your favourite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
I don't really know if it counts as an 'underdog' product. But the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. I think it gets overlooked as in most drugstores, it stands next to the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (the infamous foundation, that EVERY 'beauty guru' On YouTube raves about).

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
Definitely Mascara... Its extortionate!  L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara is £10.99, going on for high end prices!

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)
I haven't personally got my very own 'drugstore dupe' that I've found myself, I do know of one. The MUA Undress me and Undress Me Too palettes are supposedly really good dupes for the Naked 1 & 2 palette!

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
The Nivea lip butters. They taste nice and there not dreadful. They just don't work for me. I think this product would be much more effective for people with dryer lips than mine! :)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Hey everyone! This product i'm about to rave about is by far my favourite foundation that i am using at the moment! It is....the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation.

First of all, in my opinion, the main crucial points you need to consider before purchasing a foundation are shade and skin type. For me i am quite pale and i have oily/combination skin. I find these very hard to cater for. However, the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation seems to do the job! Although, it is not perfect as it appears quite dewy on my skin, it does give a natural look perfect for everyday or school (especially if you're not allowed to wear makeup!) I use the shade 010 Light Porcelain, which i believe is the lightest shade in the collection.

One benefit of this product is that you are almost guaranteed to find a shade to match your skin tone, hence the name! It is actually a perfect match for my skin. This could be down to the "advanced Smart-Tone technology" which makes your skin look flawless under any light, as it says on the bottle. I can't disagree with this statement, i think it works a treat! And after you have applied it to your face, your skin still looks like skin (which is always a bonus) without it looking cakey. Another great thing about this foundation is that it has SPF 18, which is ideal so no damage is done to the skin throughout the day. It keeps your skin nice and healthy! I also like the bottle as it feels and looks quite expensive, with it being made out of glass. And even though it looks expensive, it is at a fair price of £6.99 RRP. You can buy this from HERE

As i have said before, a negative to this product is that it can appear shiny and dewy on the skin, which is not ideal for you out there with oily skin (like me). And that is why i used a long lasting matte powder over the top, to keep it from looking oily.

Thank you if you're a trooper and you read all of this post! And be sure to leave us a comment or two telling us how you find this product, or even if you have any questions at all! We're always happy to help!

My winter essentials...

Hello again my little beauties! I thought I'd show you a few of my winter makeup favorites that I've been loving this winter. This is purely makeup based and I'm hoping to post a skincare and bath time one later in the month so watch out for that!

So the first thing I've been loving this 'season' is MUA's Koala Bear nail polish, its a middle way grey (my top notch language for half way between light and dark) colour and fits the season really well... And anyway who could resist a nail polish with the name Koala Bear? Adorable I know! Even better? Its only a pound. As you will soon find out I love MUA, its cheap, cheerful and amazing quality! Well worth the hype! When first applied, this nail polish does go on quite sheer, which isn't great for the quick 'n' easy lovers. Personally I think this nail polish is best when I've applied 3-4 coats and waited for them to dry completely. Despite the sheerness I would definitely recommend this nail polish, for the price its amazing! Available HERE

Okay, so the next thing in this bundle of festive favourites is the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, and I won't go into too much detail about this one as I believe Abbie is going to be writing an upcoming post about this little jem. So all I'll say is I love it!! Available HERE

As you can see my next favorite is the body shop lip balm in the flavour 'Guava' which sounds all rather exotic! :) It smells absolutely lovely, and makes me feel all summery, even though we are in the thick of winter haha! And i actually feel like its doing something! With quite a lot of lip balms i don't feel like there doing anything, but the with this it's certainly not the case!! I apply this morning and night as part of my routine (post coming soon), and my lips feel constantly nourished. I sometimes feel the need to re- apply around dinner time right in between. And guess what? It's yet another bargainous product! £2. That's the price i pay for nourished lips. And it lasts a pretty long time too! I also have the flavour strawberry, which is just as good and smells like strawberry laces! YUM! Available HERE

So there's been a huge hype over the Kate Moss by Rimmel lipsticks this year, and sure enough i jumped onto the band waggon. And yes, i was utterly pleased! I have two shades 02 (pictured above) and 13, both of which i believe have been discontinued (sorry about that one! But i do believe that 01 is VERY similar to 02) Shade 02 is much more of a wintery colour than 13 so i decided to include that one. To be honest, the photograph doesn't do it justice. It's a slightly more deeper berry tone. It's not a drying formula at all and is almost a matte finish which i love! Its also very long lasting, and fantastic for parties and meals! To make this lipstick a little more classy, i just add a couple of coats of clear gloss that i re-apply every so often to keep my lips looking fresh!

As you can see towards the back there's a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I bought this around September time, and before i bought this, i used to just apply my foundation with my finger. However now i can't go back, i have numerous Real Technique Brushes, and i'm hoping to write a mini series of reviews and uses on them so again i don't particularly want to go into a full depth review, but i do believe this brush works ten times better than your average flat foundation brush and really leaves a nice 'flawless' affect finish.  Available HERE

And to the final thing in my 'winter essentials'. My simple moisturizer, as you've probably already seen i wrote an in depth  blog post on this only yesterday, (blog post HERE) so theres no point going into it all. But just to clarify, this is by far my favorite moisturizer, and i'm going to continue to use it! It's perfect for my skin type, so why change?

So that's a summary of my 'Winter Essentials' i hope you've enjoyed it and sorry its been a long un'!
